An approach for developing compactness measurement indices in cotton (Gossypium spp.)

نویسندگان

چکیده

High density planting with compact genotypes proved, as high potential system of cotton cultivation. There is a need to develop proper indices measure compactness in plant, necessitated for screening genotypes. Compactness measured using ((R× r) × √ h) was identified an efficient method, based on that NSBT 108 , PAU1 OUAT Bt 2 CICR- K 34007 and CICR-CSH 19-2 were Compact Efficiency Index (CEI 1) suitable measuring efficiency compactness.

Polyploidization Altered Gene Functions in Cotton (Gossypium spp.)

Cotton (Gossypium spp.) is an important crop plant that is widely grown to produce both natural textile fibers and cottonseed oil. Cotton fibers, the economically more important product of the cotton plant, are seed trichomes derived from individual cells of the epidermal layer of the seed coat. It has been known for a long time that large numbers of genes determine the development of cotton fi...

Surface plasmon resonance detection of transgenic Cry1Ac cotton ( Gossypium spp.).

The detection and identification of genetically modified (GM) plants are challenging issues that have arisen from the potential negative impacts of extensive cultivation of transgenic plants. The screening process is a long-term focus and needs specific detection strategies. Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) has been used to detect a variety of biomolecules including proteins and nucleic acids du...

Progress in genome sequencing will accelerate molecular breeding in cotton (Gossypium spp.)

Cotton (Gossypium spp.) is the single most important spinning fiber that has economic significance worldwide. Cotton is one of the most value-added crops and an excellent model system for the analysis of polyploidization and cell development. Thus, the Cotton Genome Consortium has made rapid and significant progress in whole genome sequencing studies in the last decade. Developments in cotton g...

Toward Sequencing Cotton (Gossypium) Genomes

Despite rapidly decreasing costs and innovative technologies, sequencing of angiosperm genomes is not yet undertaken lightly. Generating larger amounts of sequence data more quickly does not address the difficulties of sequencing and assembling complex genomes de novo. The cotton (Gossypium spp.) genomes represent a challenging case. To this end, a coalition of cotton genome scientists has deve...
